Well, it has been a while.
So much to fill you in on.
Where to start? Where to start?
Last weekend I was involved in the Dandenong Ranges Open Studios Weekend. This year I was part of the Leaf Studios Collective. The weather wasn’t great on the weekend but we were amazed by the amount of people visiting our studio. We met so many lovely people and received some really nice feedback about our artworks.
The group exhibition, On the brink – The tensity of change, is still open at Burrinja in Upwey until May 3.
My contribution, Shedding, continues my theme of pushing the tension between fine needlework and other delicate materials, in this instance, leaves.
Each leaf represents the continual cycle of change that we live in … monthly, seasonally, yearly. The tension of searing Summers, the apprehension of Autumnal windf, the contemplation of Winter and the anticipation of Spring. The very thread used to embellish and alter each leaf is created by varying tensions.
Each leaf will continue to change, to age, to shrivel and curl, emphasizing the fragility of each piece.
There are plenty of other incredible works represented by all the Open Studios artists. It really is worth your while visiting this exhibition.
Hope you enjoyed your weekend!
